JERUSALEM, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Jews in Israel on Monday held the Hoshana Rabbah (known as the last of the Days of Judgment) prayers on the 7th day of Sukkot, a week-long Jewish festival marking the end of harvest season and the Jews' Exodus from ancient Egypt to escape slavery.

In Jerusalem, Jewish prayers gathered either on the Mount of Olives overlooking the Old city of Jerusalem or at the Western Wall to pray, waving four species including the palm leave stalk, citrus, myrtle and willow-branches. During the Sukkot, the Jews live in a temporary dwelling called "sukkah," a walled structure covered with plant materials such as overgrowth or palm leaves.
